Conferences: I look forward to meeting with you this week. Please remember that our time together will be 20 minutes. If we need more time, I am also happy to schedule another time with you. If you have requested a virtual conference, I will email you a link on the morning of your conference day. If you do not remember what type of conference you requested you may check the schedule here.


Word Work: This week your child will continue to learn words that have the long-a digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like brain, weight, tray, and whey.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.


Computers:  Class runs more smoothly when all the computers are charged.  Please have a designated space for your child to charge their computer nightly.

  Weekly Update December 13, 2021 12/13 We have Media Center. Books are due today. 12/14 We have art. 12/15 Late Start  School will start at 9:25. We are watching the Nutcracker today in the gym grades 2-5 12/16 We have   gym. 12/17 We have music. We are going to the high school today for the Holiday Concert.     Word Work: Our class will be learning the -r controlled e, i, and u syllable pattern this week. Our syllable pattern will show up in words like smart, shark, start, and market.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week. Ice Skating: Thank you to those parents who were able to help our students put on and take off ice skates.  We had a wonderful time.                                   The class filled the bead jar.  They voted for an Everything Goes Day with an electronic toy day, pajama day, something soft day, time for a read in, and safe candy allowed (no tree nuts, no peanuts, and no eggs).   If this impending weather causes a snow day we will do this next Friday.  It will not be moved to Tuesday due to that being our Twosday celebration.  Please email me if you have any questions.  Thank you!

Word Work: Our class will be learning to form plurals by adding -s, -es, or -ies to words such as rocks, wishes, boxes, and puppies this week. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 20 practice list for the week.   Music Performance:   The students have begun practicing together on stage. Here is a link to the music blog for access to everything about the play. We ordered the new hats shown on the blog and are excited for how it's going to look.
