Weekly Update

Word Work: Our class will be learning about the r-controlled o syllable pattern this week. The following words are examples of this pattern: born, more, roar, floor,  and yourself.   Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Ice Skating: Thanks to our PTO and the City of St. Joseph, our Lincoln School K-5 students will be able to ice skate for free at the Howard Ice Arena on  Thursday, December 17th.  Our second graders will walk with their teachers to and from the ice rink. Students may get ice skates to use at the rink for free or bring their own skates in some type of bag.  Helmets and safety gear are encouraged.  Parents are welcome to join us. It is very helpful to have parents assisting students with putting on and taking off skates.  We will be leaving Lincoln School at 11:35, skating from 11:50-12:30, and then returning to Lincoln at 12:45.

Math Game: This week's game will be Capture Squares. Students will bring home a game board and cards sometime this week. If you would like to play sooner, the game board can be found here and the cards can be found here.
