Weekly Update

Week of May 2, 2022

 

1  5/2	No School. Professional Development for teachers.
1  5/3	We have art.
5/4	We have a late start.  2nd Grade Performance at 5:30pm
5/5	We have gym.
5/6	We have music

WORD WORK: This week our class will be learning about the three sounds that -ed makes in words: /t/, /ed or id/, /d/ such as finished, acted, and yelled. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 20 practice list for the week.  

Music Performance: 

Our performance for parents and friends will be at the SJHS Auditorium. Students should arrive by 5:20 and the performance will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.  Here is a link to the music blog for access to everything about the play. We are  excited for this jungle of a production!

NWEA: This week our 2nd graders will be taking the math portion of NWEA over a span of a few days.  There is really nothing that needs to happen from home besides the usual good night’s rest and encouragement to try his or her best each day.  Let us know if you have any questions.

Lory’s Place Run, Walk, Rock:  The 17th annual Run, Walk, and Rock to support Lory’s Place is coming up on May 21st.   It is a fantastic family event that supports the services of Lory’s Place.  If you are not aware, Lory’s Place, named after a former Lincoln parent, is a wonderful grief center that is active in our school as well as 56 other schools in our area helping children who have had someone special in their life die.  You can register here.
